Prof. Günther Rensen is a part-time Professor of Corporate Law at Utrecht University (0.6 FTE) and Knowledge Counsel/Deputy Civil-Law Notary at A&O Shearman in Amsterdam (0.4 FTE). His research focuses on corporate law, particularly its notarial aspects, including incorporation, restructuring, and dissolution of legal entities such as NV/BV companies, associations, cooperatives, and foundations. He edits the Weekblad voor Privaatrecht, Notariaat en Registratie (WPNR) and co-edits the Journal Jurisprudentie Onderneming en Recht (JOR). He chairs the Expert Group on the Modernisation of NV Law for the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security and is a member of the Combined Corporate Law Committee of NOvA and KNB.
His work involves advising on corporate law legislation, delivering postgraduate training for law firms and notary offices, and participating in expert meetings on legal reforms. He has co-authored the Asser series on corporate legal forms and NV/BV structures.
Professional activities include roles in notarial practice modernization, governance codes, and cross-border legal entity mobility. He teaches corporate law and actively contributes to legal education and policy.
