Prof. Dr. Gábor Biczó serves as Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Vice Dean for Research at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Child Education and Special Needs Education. As a Professor, he leads academic and research initiatives within Hungary's pioneering institution for child and special needs education.
His research spans Romology, social pedagogy, and cultural anthropology with emphasis on Roma communities, ethnic coexistence, and bilingualism in early childhood. He investigates local community dynamics, social conditions of disadvantaged groups, and higher education methodologies through extensive fieldwork networks across Eastern Hungary and the Hungarian-Romanian border region.
Prof. Biczó mentors students through the DETEP talent program and manages related educational grants. He oversees a departmental research infrastructure including kindergartens, rural communities, and segregated Roma settlements used for student fieldwork, coordinating both day-long and five-day research expeditions that form core components of the faculty's practical educational philosophy.
