Fupeng Li

Fupeng Li is an Associate Professor of Legal History at the Law Faculty of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), with affiliations to the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History (MPI) and the Max Planck Partner Group. He holds two doctorates in law from CUPL (2017) and Goethe University Frankfurt (2020).

His research focuses on Global Legal History, Comparative Constitutional Law, and Normativity Knowledge Production, particularly examining topics like the Chinese Rites Controversy, the Early Modern Book Trade, and the translation of socio-economic rights from the Weimar Constitution (1919-1949). He contributes to projects such as Glocalising Normativities and Mapping Conflicts.

Li collaborates with teams at the MPI and CUPL, integrating interdisciplinary approaches to analyze historical normative regimes and their global influence. His work bridges legal history, cultural translation, and early modernity in Asia and Iberian contexts.
