Fumi Cook

Fumi Cook serves as Adjunct Faculty of Japanese at the University of Rhode Island, teaching Japanese language courses with her office located in Swan Hall 125. She concurrently works as an online Japanese Language Instructor at the Japan Society of Boston and contributes educational content to "Perapera newsletter".

Her academic qualifications include:

• BA in English Literature from Tsuda University
• Diploma in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language from the Institute of International Education in London (awarded by University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate)

Her professional focus centers on practical Japanese language pedagogy, specializing in Kanji mastery techniques, cultural interpretation of Japanese proverbs, and comprehensive analysis of Yojijukugo (four-character idioms). She develops accessible learning materials including quizzes and structured lessons that bridge linguistic theory with real-world application for international students.

Her career spans both Japanese and international educational contexts, with prior experience at Sendai International Center and Kyoto Japanese Language Training Center within Kyoto Computer Gakuin, where she prepared students for higher education entrance.
