Fulvio Corno

Fulvio Corno is a Full Professor at the Department of Control and Computer Science (DAUIN), Polytechnic University of Turin, where he also serves as Vice-Rector for Education and holds multiple leadership roles including Coordinator of the Student Contribution and Planning Commission (STUDI) and member of the Academic Senate and Board of Directors (non-voting). He is actively involved in the Interdepartmental Center PIC4SeR for Service Robotics and the Executive Committee of the Master's and Continuing Education School.

His research interests span Ambient Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, Internet of Things, Semantic Web, Smart Environments, and Web Technologies. These are reflected in his extensive work on end-user development in IoT, smart home security, information visualization, and accessible technologies. He leads the ELITE research group (Intelligent and Interactive Systems) and conducts research in LAB 10 at DAUIN.

The recent publications highlight a strong focus on improving usability and security in IoT systems, particularly for novice developers and end-users. His work explores computational notebooks for IoT prototyping, security evaluation of hobbyist projects, threat modeling for smart home gateways, and tools to support end-user programming through natural language and visualization. A recurring theme is empowering non-experts to safely and effectively interact with intelligent environments.

Fulvio Corno advises PhD students in Computer Science and Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, including Tommaso Calo' and Luca Mannella. He leads or participates in numerous research and educational projects, such as RESCHIP4EU, AccessCoVE, and EMPATHY, funded by EU, regional, and commercial sources. His teaching includes Web Applications I, Human-Computer Interaction, and Programming Techniques across various engineering programs.
