Maximiliano Fuentes Codera is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Art History at the University of Girona, where he specializes in Contemporary History. He is affiliated with the Institute of Historical Research and leads the Walter Benjamin Chair on Memory and Exile. His academic work spans multiple international institutions, having served as a visiting researcher at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Freie Universität, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad Nacional de San Martín, and as a visiting professor at the University of Bologna.

His research focuses on 20th-century political and cultural history, particularly the impact of the First World War in Spain and neutral countries, transnational cultural relations, intellectual history, and the politics of memory and exile.
