She investigates the historical evolution of human rights discourse in educational contexts and the practical translation of these concepts into classroom practice.
Her recent publications reveal a strong emphasis on human rights education within university settings and secondary schools. Nilsson's work shows particular interest in collaborative approaches to human rights education, the historical development of human rights discourse in educational contexts, and the practical implementation of human rights principles across different educational levels. Her research demonstrates how human rights frameworks can bridge theoretical understanding with practical educational applications.
Nilsson actively contributes to academic discourse through her participation in various projects and networks. She is involved with the Lund Human Rights Research Hub (LHRRH) and has participated in projects examining human rights in Nordic countries and Swedish upper secondary schools. Her academic engagement extends to supervising master's and bachelor's theses, demonstrating her commitment to mentoring the next generation of human rights scholars.
