Freya De Keyzer

Freya De Keyzer serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is affiliated with the ERMeCHS research clusters REACT (Responsible Engagement with AI, Culture and Technology) and ROCCS (Responsible Organizations Communication, Change and Society). Her research focuses on social media advertising, consumer behavior, and sustainable food systems, with a particular interest in how digital tools and personalized communication influence health and ethical consumer decisions.

Her work spans cross-cultural studies on brand outcomes, the psychological effects of personalized advertising, and the role of disclosure in influencer marketing for sustainability. She actively collaborates internationally, presenting at academic conferences on topics ranging from replication studies in advertising research to youth mental health interventions leveraging AI.

Dr. De Keyzer has been recognized with the Best Student Paper Award (2019) and has engaged in public discourse on adolescent health perceptions of smoking and vaping through media contributions. Her recent publications emphasize AI-driven behavioral interventions, circular economy strategies in food systems, and methodological rigor in academic research.

Lab affiliations include the ERMeCHS clusters, where she contributes to interdisciplinary projects addressing technology ethics and societal change. She has organized workshops on active involvement interventions for youth health and co-developed digital health tools using participatory action research frameworks.
