Freda Dunne

Freda Yarbrough Dunne is a Part-Time Lecturer at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication, teaching media writing since 2014. A veteran journalist with 40 years at The Advocate, she served as reporter, features editor, and digital content director. She holds a B.A. in Journalism from LSU (1973) and completed residencies focused on environmental reporting.

Her instructional approach emphasizes practical journalism skills, ethical reporting, and narrative storytelling, drawing from her award-winning career (including a 1986 AAAS Science Writers Award).
