Freda Cook

Freda Cook is a Principal Lecturer and Associate Head of School for the School of Social Sciences and Law at the University of Sunderland. She oversees the Integrated Foundation Year Programme (IFY), Customised Awards Scheme (CAS), and Study Abroad/Exchange Scheme (SAEX). Her academic background includes a degree in Business Computing and a postgraduate qualification in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. She holds advanced professional certifications, including Senior Fellow of Advance HE and accreditation as a Workplace Mediator.

Her research focuses on student engagement, IT/eLearning, and student support. Notably, she pioneered the 'Student Led Induction Event' (now IFY Champions Event), designed to ease student transition into higher education.
