Franzy Deutscher is a lecturer in Movement & Combat at the Department of Acting, Theaterakademie August Everding (part of University of Music and Theatre Munich) since summer semester 2024, and has taught Movement Workshop Combat for the Department of Music Theatre since summer semester 2021. She previously taught at Folkwang University Essen (summer semester 2022) and Academy August Everding Munich (2021). Her professional work spans across numerous theater productions from Kiel to Bolzano, with choreographies performed since 2013.
Her educational background includes studies in literature and history at Freiburg im Breisgau, a theater studies MA from Leipzig University, and a four-year movement education program. She completed staged combat training with Claus Grosser at HMT Leipzig and Armin Kurzmaier at Otto Falckenberg & August Everding Munich, and has been a certified yoga teacher since 2015.
Franzy's research and practice focus on the intersection of performance practice and martial arts, particularly Kalaripayattu. She has developed expertise in fight choreography, intimacy coordination, movement education, and bodywork, integrating elements from sports science, yoga therapy, and contact improvisation.

As an educator, Franzy provides practical training in movement arts for theater students, with regular classes in Kalaripayattu and specialized workshops. She founded the Professional Association for Intimacy Coordination and Fight Choreography in 2019 and has chaired it since its inception, organizing the first two international conferences for intimacy coordination in Berlin (2023-2024).
Franzy operates her own movement workshop business, offering choreographies, yoga sessions, seminars, and retreats. Her upcoming projects include teaching engagements, theater productions through 2026, and publications on intimacy coordination and movement in theater education.
