Frank Romanelli

Frank Romanelli is the Paul F. Parker Endowed Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, with joint appointments as Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Professor of Physician Assistant Studies. He serves as Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Chief Academic Officer, overseeing curriculum development and academic strategy.

Dr. Romanelli holds a BS and PharmD from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, an MPH from the University of Kentucky, and completed PGY1/PY2 pharmacy residencies at UK Healthcare. His career spans over two decades in pharmacy education and clinical practice, with a focus on HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, and educational innovation.

His research emphasizes pharmacy education reform, HIV prevention strategies, and assessment methodologies. Notable contributions include pioneering work in diagnostic instruction integration and curricular innovation. He has published extensively on topics ranging from NAPLEX pass rates to pandemic response strategies, and his work has been recognized through 17+ peer-reviewed articles annually since 2010.

Academically, Dr. Romanelli is a decorated educator: 'Great Teacher' (2003), AACOP Innovations in Teaching Award (2004), and AACOP Distinguished Teacher Scholar (2018). He holds Fellowships in the American Pharmacists Association and American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

He co-leads the Kentucky AIDS Training and Education Center and serves as Executive Associate Editor of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. His leadership extends to curricular reform initiatives and interprofessional education programs aimed at expanding HIV workforce pipelines.
