Franco Cacialli

Franco Cacialli is a Professor of Physics at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Bozen-Bolzano (unibz). He teaches foundational physics courses to undergraduate engineering students and leads cutting-edge research in optoelectronics and organic electronics.

His work on OLEDs spans three decades, originating from his PhD research at the University of Cambridge under Professor Sir Richard Friend. Recent projects explore biodegradable OLEDs for medical applications, emphasizing sustainability in organic electronics.

The Scholar GPS Highly Ranked Scholar award (2022) honors his scientific impact, reflected in high citation counts and an h-index placing him among the top 0.05% of global researchers in his field.

His research bridges materials science and engineering, with applications in energy-efficient displays and high-speed optical communication systems. Future goals include advancing biocompatible electronic devices for in vivo diagnostics and therapies.
