Francisco Sierra

Francisco Sierra serves as Senior Lecturer of Zero Carbon Architecture within the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment at the University of the West of England (UWE), where he leads the MSc Facade Engineering program and lectures on MArch and MSc BIM courses. He holds Senior Fellow status with the Higher Academy and provides consultancy services for embodied and operational carbon calculations in construction.

His academic foundation includes a PhD in structural solutions for zero thermal bridges and an MSc in embodied/operational energy modeling from Cardiff University. Research interests span sustainable construction with emphasis on carbon assessment methodologies, thermal performance optimization, digital construction technologies, and emerging applications like 3D printing—driven by a commitment to socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable industry practices.
