Francisco Gomes is a Professor of Finance at London Business School. He joined the institution as an Assistant Professor of Finance following completion of his PhD and has since advanced to a full Professor position.
He earned his Licenciatura in Economics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1994, followed by an M.A. in Economics from Harvard University in 1998, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 2000.
Dr. Gomes' research focuses on capital markets, asset allocation, and macroeconomics. His scholarly work has been published in leading finance journals including the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the American Economic Review. He has presented his research at numerous seminars worldwide, establishing himself as a contributor to financial economics.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Gomes worked at the Bank of Portugal in the economic research department, providing practical experience that likely informs his research perspective.
