Francesco Vuolo

Francesco Vuolo serves as Head of the Institute of Geomatics at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), where he leads research in geospatial technologies from his base at Peter-Jordan-Straße 82, 1190 Vienna. Holding the academic title Privatdozent (Priv.Doz.), his work bridges theoretical geomatics with practical environmental and agricultural applications through satellite data integration and machine learning.

His research centers on remote sensing and geographic information systems, with specialized expertise in precision agriculture and land cover dynamics. He pioneers methods for grassland yield prediction, crop mapping, and urban environmental monitoring by fusing multi-source data—including Copernicus Sentinel optical/SAR imagery, weather datasets, and in situ measurements—to address climate resilience challenges in agricultural systems across Austria, Europe, and globally.
