Francesco Solinas is a Lecturer at the Collège de France, affiliated with the Chair of Modern and Contemporary French Literature: History, Criticism, Theory. His research explores the intersections of the Republic of Letters, artistic creation, and erudition from the Renaissance to the Ancien Régime, with a focus on art-politics-diplomacy relationships, the emergence of artistic genres, and the history of collections.
He co-directs the international seminar Ornement (since 2013) with Pierre Caye, supported by the Collège de France, École normale supérieure de Paris, and École des hautes études en sciences sociales de Paris. His work also emphasizes documentary and scientific drawing as critical scholarly tools.
