Francesco Frasca is a Full Professor of Endocrinology (MEDS-08/A) at the University of Catania's School of Medicine. His office is located at P.O. Garibaldi Nesima. He holds a Medical Degree (1993), Specialty in Endocrinology (1998), and Post-doctorate in Molecular Hormonal Action (2003), all from the University of Catania, graduating with highest honors.
His research focuses on thyroid cancer stem cells, thyroid hormone homeostasis, epidemiological studies of thyroid cancer, and the therapeutic role of selenium in autoimmune thyroiditis. He directs clinical investigations into thyroid hormone replacement therapy applications.
Prof. Frasca has received prestigious awards including the Ceresa Award (2003), Pierre Konig Award (2009), and AIT Award (2011). He served as Director of the Post Degree School of Endocrinology (2014-2018) and President of the School for Dietitians (2013-2014). He holds editorial roles at l’Endocrinologo Journal and leadership positions in the Società Italiana di Endocrinologia and Associazione Italiana Tiroide.
Research experience includes fellowships at Stanford Medical Center (1996) and UCSD (1999-2001).
