Francesco Bonaldi

Francesco Bonaldi serves as an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) in Applied Mathematics at the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, France, affiliated with the Laboratoire de Modélisation Pluridisciplinaire et Simulations (LAMPS) since 2022. His permanent academic position focuses on interdisciplinary modeling and simulation within the university's research ecosystem.

His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Mechanics and Mathematics from the Institut Montpelliérain Alexander Grothendieck (IMAG) at Université de Montpellier (2013-2016), funded by the ANR Project ARAMIS. Prior to his current role, he completed sequential postdoctoral appointments: at Université de Montpellier (2016-2017 and 2021-2022), Inria Sophia Antipolis & Université Côte d'Azur (2019-2021), and Politecnico di Milano (2017-2019).

Dr. Bonaldi's research centers on Continuum Mechanics through both theoretical frameworks and advanced numerical implementations. His expertise spans porous media flow dynamics, elasto-acoustic wave propagation, and discrete differential geometry, utilizing specialized computational methods including Discontinuous Galerkin techniques on polyhedral grids, Hybrid High-Order formulations, and Polytopal exterior calculus. These approaches address complex multiphysics problems involving mechanical deformation and fractured media.

His scholarly contributions have been supported by competitive grants from ANR (Projects ARAMIS and HHOMM), SIR (Project PolyPDEs), and industrial partner Andra.
