My research examines social harms linked to borderisation processes, focusing on environmental harms at international borders. The work develops zemiology as analytical framework while critically analyzing state roles in creating social problems. Key projects include a £2000-funded study on raptor persecution in Scotland with Scottish Institute for Policing Research, and cross-disciplinary work on Mediterranean migration.
Recent publications (2021-2023) show thematic continuity in border harm analysis across multiple domains: migration control, environmental crimes, counterterrorism, and wildlife conservation. Articles demonstrate interdisciplinary application of zemiological theory.
Scientific Recognition:
- Associate Fellowship, Higher Education Academy
- Multiple conference invitations including European Group Annual Conference
As supervisor on the Scottish women’s football injury landscape MRes project, I continue mentoring postgraduate research in social justice contexts.
