Francesca Poli is a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick's Physics Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). She holds a PhD in Plasma Physics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, and has extensive experience in plasma diagnostics and turbulence research. Her work focuses on plasma instabilities, edge localized modes (ELMs), and wavelet analysis in experimental settings such as the TORPEX and NSTX devices.
- Education: Physics degree from University of Roma La Sapienza (Italy), Postgraduate Master in Plasma Physics at University of Padova (Italy), PhD at EPFL.
Her research includes experimental characterization of ELM toroidal mode numbers using wavelet techniques, collaboration with JET (TF-M and TF-S1 teams) on ELM mitigation, and development of synthetic diagnostics for gyrokinetic simulations in partnership with Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). She has contributed to studies on runaway electrons dynamics at the FTU tokamak and nonlinear spectral analysis of plasma turbulence.
