Francesca Perazio is a Teaching Professor in Italian at the University of Strathclyde, where she has served as Subject Leader in Italian since joining in 2009. Her roles include teaching Italian, coordinating language education initiatives, and leading research projects. She holds a BA in Conference Interpreting and Translation (English and Russian) from the University of Trieste (2005) and an MA in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language (DITALS) from the Università per Stranieri di Siena (2009).
Her research interests focus on innovative language pedagogy, multilingualism, and the application of technology in language learning. She co-hosts the award-winning Coffee Break Italian podcast, a global resource for Italian language learners. Perazio has led projects such as the LATE Lunches seminar series (2017–present) and the Girotondo Italiano initiative (2013), fostering language education and community engagement.
Awarded the Edilingua Edizioni video contest prize (2013) and the prestigious Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (2021), her contributions to language education have been widely recognized. She actively participates in academic activities, including public lectures on AI in translation and seminars on Gaelic language education.
