Fröba

Professor Fröba is a faculty member at the Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences at the University of Hamburg. He leads a research group focused on materials science with particular emphasis on porosity-related properties and their applications.

Research interests include:

• Materials Science with focus on porosity phenomena
• Organic-inorganic hybrid and functional materials development
• Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for various applications
• Lithium (ion) battery technology
• Periodic Mesoporous Organosilicas and functionalized silica phases
• Energy research addressing finite fossil fuel resources
• CO₂ emission reduction technologies

The research group actively participates in the Hamburg Energy Research Association, working on solutions to the global energy problem and climate change challenges. Professor Fröba maintains regular office hours (Tuesdays 1:15-2:00 PM and Wednesdays 1:00-1:45 PM) and welcomes student inquiries regarding bachelor's, master's, and doctoral research opportunities. The group's work has significant implications for developing sustainable energy alternatives and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions through advanced materials science.
