Fotios Spyropoulos

Dr. Fotios Spyropoulos is an Associate Professor (Reader) in Formulation Engineering at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham. His research focuses on emulsions, foams, soft solids formulation, and encapsulation processes. He has secured funding from EPSRC, Innovate UK, Wellcome Trust, and industry partners to advance formulation engineering methodologies.

His work addresses cutting-edge approaches for healthier food products and enhanced performance materials. As part of the Food Formulation Engineering Research Group, he develops novel techniques to improve food processing and product innovation. With over 60 peer-reviewed publications, reviews, and book chapters, his research has an h-index of 23 and over 1000 citations.

Dr. Spyropoulos contributes to both academic and industrial collaborations, bridging fundamental science with practical applications in formulation engineering.
