Fons van der Lucht

Fons van der Lucht is a Professor at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, holding positions in Healthy Ageing & Public Health and the Centre of Expertise Healthy Ageing. He specializes in frailty, public health policy, and elderly care systems. His academic background includes a Doctor of Health Science from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (1992) and a Master in Medical Sociology (1988). He has been a senior researcher at Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu since 1998.

Research focuses on frailty assessment, public health interventions for aging populations, and health equity. Key projects include the Innovatiewerkplaats Meer Gezonde Jaren voor Appingedam (2020–2027) and a PhD project on frailty and social services (2019–2023). His work addresses spatial health disparities, pandemic impacts on elderly well-being, and healthcare policy design.
