Florin Beschea is Chair & Associate Professor of the Practice in French and Francophone Studies at Davidson College. He holds a Ph.D. from Indiana University and brings expertise in medieval literature, linguistic evolution, and Francophone cultures.

His research focuses on French Medieval literature, particularly 13th–14th century religious texts like the Miracles of the Virgin Mary, and the evolution of Old and Middle French. He also explores pre-modern theatrical traditions, Francophone cinema, and Francophone literature, especially from Western Africa. Teaching courses include elementary to advanced French language, literary analysis of love and death themes in medieval texts, and seminars on Francophone identities in France and Africa.
