Florian Lippert

Florian Lippert is an Associate Professor in European Culture and Literature and Director of the Research Centre for the Study of Democratic Cultures and Politics (DemCP) at the University of Groningen. He holds ius promovendi and serves as Programme Director of the Graduate School for the Humanities. His research focuses on European cultural identity, migration, and political discourse, with notable projects like the EU-funded 'Protecting European Values.' He has held positions at King's College London, Sungshin University Seoul, and the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS).

Research interests include European crises, cultural self-reflection, and the intersection of literature, film, and politics. His work analyzes contemporary issues like migration and nationalism through discursive and visual frameworks. Key publications include Self-Reflection in Literature (2020) and articles on cultural sameness and European film.

Florian has supervised PhD projects on literature, art, and philosophy. Awards include the NIAS Fellowship (2022) and the Teaching Innovation Fund (2022-2023). Current activities involve evaluating EU grants and coordinating interdisciplinary research on European values and democratic culture.
