Florian Kowall is a Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Cologne's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Physics. His research focuses on quantum physics, nanotechnology, and condensed matter systems. He leads a research group exploring quantum entanglement in nanostructures, topological insulators, and spin dynamics in graphene. Kowall advises PhD students Janina Müller and Lena Wagner. He has received the DPG Prize and holds grants from DFG and ERC. His work bridges fundamental quantum phenomena with applications in quantum sensors and computing.
