Prof Fiona Thistlethwaite is an Honorary Professor at The University of Manchester, affiliated with the Division of Cancer Sciences. She holds leadership roles including Medical Director of the Christie Clinical Research Facility and lead of the Manchester health consortium (iMATCH), which received £9M Innovate UK funding to advance cell therapies. Her clinical practice focuses on Experimental Cancer Medicine and immune-oncology, with expertise in immunotherapy and adoptive T-cell therapy.
Education: MB PhD from the University of Cambridge (1999), supervised by Sir Martin Evans. Post-training at Liverpool Royal, The Royal Marsden, and The Christie, becoming a consultant in 2007. She lectures at the University of Manchester’s MRes in Experimental Cancer Medicine and supervises trainees.
Research interests center on early-phase clinical trials (adult solid tumours), immune biomarkers, and adoptive cell therapies. She contributes to the MRC DPFS panel, awarding £30M+ in clinical research funding annually.
