Fiona Hughes is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Essex's School of Philosophical, Historical, and Interdisciplinary Studies. She holds an MA from the University of Edinburgh and a DPhil from the University of Oxford. Previously, she was a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College, Oxford, and taught at the universities of Edinburgh and York.
Her research focuses on philosophical aesthetics, Kant, Nietzsche, and phenomenology. She explores intersections between continental philosophy and art, including studies on Paleolithic cave art, Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology, and Kantian judgment. Her recent work examines liminality in rock art and alternative realism in Paleolithic representations.
