Fiona Curtis

Fiona Curtis is a Teaching Fellow at Lancaster Medical School, Lancaster University. She serves as the Year 2 Director for the Lancaster Medical Degree programme (MBChB), responsible for coordination of all aspects of Year 2 teaching including clinical placements, assessment, curriculum development, and student progression.

Dr. Curtis earned her academic credentials from the University of Glasgow: a BSc (Hons) in Immunology (1997) and a PhD from the Faculty of Medicine (2004). She later obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Durham University (2008).

Her research spans medical education with a focus on digital professionalism, curriculum development, and integration of physical activity into medical training. Dr. Curtis has made significant contributions to understanding how medical students navigate social media while developing professional identities and how to effectively incorporate movement into undergraduate medical education. Her work on simulation in medical education and technology-enhanced learning represents important innovations in medical pedagogy.

Dr. Curtis's publication record shows a transition from molecular biology and genetics research early in her career to a strong emphasis on medical education in recent years, reflecting her professional evolution from laboratory research to educational leadership within medical training.
