Prof. Filipa César is a Professor for Time-Based Media & Performance at the Faculty of Media Arts (Fachgruppe Medienkunst) at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG Karlsruhe), collaborating with Prof. Diana McCarty. Her work bridges art, film, and anti-colonial, feminist, and indigenous activism, focusing on the politics and poetics of moving images, environmental justice, and archival practices.
César has co-founded the Mediateca Onshore in Malafo and premiered her feature essay film Spell Reel at the Berlinale in 2017. She engages in collective research projects, workshops, and community gatherings, emphasizing horizontal learning and the ethical dimensions of media production.
