Fidelma White

Fidelma White is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. She holds a Higher Doctorate (LL.D.) from the National University of Ireland and has been affiliated with UCC since 1995, previously teaching at the University of Sheffield (1991–1995). Her research focuses on commercial law, e-commerce, consumer law, and public sector audit. She has advised numerous national and EU institutions, including the European Parliament and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

Education: LL.B. and B.C.L. from UCC (1988–1989), LL.M. in International Business Law (London School of Economics, 1991), and an LL.D. (2009). She also holds postgraduate qualifications in teaching and learning in higher education (2019–2020).

Research Interests: White’s work emphasizes digital markets, consumer protection, and EU regulatory frameworks. She has led projects funded by the Irish Research Council and EU initiatives, exploring topics like cross-border online gambling and digital content regulation.

Awards: Recipient of UCC’s President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2009) and the Partnership Award for Innovative Teaching (1994). She has also contributed to numerous peer-reviewed journals and authored/co-authored books on consumer law and commercial practices.

Grants & Collaborations: Over €120,000 in research funding, including a €105k study on EU legal frameworks for online gambling (2019–2024). Collaborations include projects with Mary Donnelly and Louise Crowley at UCC, and international work with institutions like KU Leuven and the European Commission.

Teaching: Specializes in commercial law, e-commerce law, and legal education. She has designed innovative programs like the eLaw Summer Institute, integrating technology into legal pedagogy.
