Fernando Jaramillo is an Assistant Professor at Stockholm University and a Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in the DeepFlood project. He is affiliated with the Digital Futures Faculty, a cross-disciplinary research center focused on advancing digital technologies to address societal challenges. Previously, he served as the main supervisor for the Deep Wetlands project, which explored wetland ecosystems using advanced analytical methods.
His research interests revolve around flood detection and environmental monitoring, leveraging PolSAR satellite data, metaheuristic algorithms, and deep learning techniques. These methods aim to enhance large-scale flood mapping accuracy and support sustainable environmental management.
As part of Digital Futures, Jaramillo collaborates with institutions like KTH Royal Institute of Technology and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.
