Fernando GRECO

Fernando GRECO serves as Full Professor of Private Law and Banking, Finance and Insurance Law at the Department of Legal Sciences, University of Salento. He holds office at the Ecotekne Center, Building R1 in Monteroni di Lecce. As a Supreme Court Attorney (Avvocato Cassazionista), he brings practical legal expertise to his academic role. In 2015, he obtained national scientific qualification for full professor in SSD 12/A1 - Private Law, which was renewed with unanimous decision in 2018.

Professor GRECO's research focuses on the intersection of private law with financial regulation, particularly examining banking transparency, consumer protection in financial markets, and insurance law. His work explores how regulatory frameworks can balance investor protection with market efficiency. He has extensively analyzed contractual obligations in financial intermediation, usury regulations, and the evolving concept of family law within EU legal frameworks.

His publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on the practical application of legal principles in financial markets. Over the past decade, his research has evolved from examining specific contractual issues toward broader regulatory frameworks governing financial transparency and consumer protection. A significant portion of his recent work addresses the challenges of digitalization in financial markets and the need for updated regulatory approaches.

Professor GRECO maintains regular student reception hours every Wednesday from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Department of Legal Sciences. His teaching focuses on Private Law Institutions, with documented course offerings through 2021. He has supervised teaching assistants who provide additional student support throughout the week.
