Dr Fergal Jones is a Reader in Clinical Psychology and Research Director of the Clinical Psychology Doctorate at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University. He is based in the School of Sciences, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Engineering and Sports. Additionally, he holds a part-time position as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Sussex Mindfulness Centre, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
His research and clinical work focus on adult mental health, particularly common mental health problems. He is an accredited practitioner in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (BABCP) and a registered teacher in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (BAMBA). His therapeutic expertise is applied both in community mental health settings and with NHS staff.
As Research Director, Dr Jones oversees the research component of the Clinical Psychology Doctorate program, fostering the development of evidence-based practice among trainees. He maintains strong links between the university and the NHS through his dual roles.
Dr Jones is associated with the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology and the Sussex Mindfulness Centre, where he contributes to clinical service delivery and research in mindfulness-based interventions.
