Felix Gaillinger is a Researcher at the Institute for European Ethnology, University of Vienna, since 2022. He is pursuing his dissertation "Public Seating: Dimensions of Everyday Urban Practice" (2022-2026), examining how urban seating shapes inclusion/exclusion spaces through radical democracy and public sphere theories.

Research Interests focus on cultural urban studies, family/kinship analysis, class dynamics, and legal anthropology. His work bridges public anthropology with material culture studies, emphasizing spatial justice and sociopolitical inclusion. Recent third mission projects include Urban Chair Meetings (2023-2024) and the upcoming Cooking with Biographical Method (2025).
His peer-reviewed publications address alimony conflicts, feminist urban practices, class analysis, and material public sphere dynamics. Awards include 2021 Honorary Prize for Master's work and multiple scholarships from German Academic Scholarship Foundation and ERASMUS+.
Active in teaching (2022-present) at University of Vienna and LMU Munich, he leads courses on cultural theories, urban research, and biographical methods. As a founding member of the Anti-Klassismus-Referat (2020-2021) and current co-speaker in the German Society for Empirical Cultural Studies, he advocates for anticlassist academic practices and social equity in education.
