Felicia Wu is the John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University, holding appointments in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics. Her research focuses on foodborne disease burden, toxin mitigation through nutrition, and cost-effective food safety strategies. She previously served as an Associate Policy Researcher at the RAND Corporation and an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Wu earned her Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. Her work has addressed antimicrobial resistance in livestock, aflatoxin regulations, and global health risks. Notably, she received a NIH EUREKA Award for research on aflatoxin and liver cancer, and contributed to the WHO’s 2015 report on aflatoxin and arsenic in food.
Her research spans environmental health, toxicology, and public health policy, with a focus on translating science into actionable policies. Recent studies include analyzing dietary arsenic exposure, Bt maize efficacy, and vaccination coverage trends globally.
