Felice Blake

Felice Blake is an Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research focuses on twentieth-century African American literature, African American studies, and critical analyses of gender and sexuality. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Santa Cruz (2008) and an MA from the University of Oslo (1999).

Her work explores intersections of race, gender, and culture, with notable publications in journals like SOULS and African American Review. She received the Distinguished Teaching Award (2016-17) and has contributed to volumes such as Antiracism Inc. and Black Sexual Economies.

Blake co-leads initiatives like the UC-HBCU Creative Work of Critical Writing project and participates in the Abolition Reading Group. She teaches courses on African American literature, comparative ethnic literatures, and third-world feminisms.
