Fatma Beyza Celebi is a PhD researcher at the University of Cambridge, Department of Architecture, where she also teaches undergraduate students. Her research explores the spatial and visual representations of cosmopolitanism in 1920s–1930s Beyoğlu, Istanbul, and how these are remembered and represented in contemporary local memory.

Research Interests:
Beyza’s work lies at the intersection of architectural history, urban planning, and ethnography. She investigates how urban spaces, particularly historic arcades and streets, serve as archives of collective memory. Her ethnographic approach includes collective mapping and interviews to understand how nostalgia and cosmopolitanism are spatially and visually encoded in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district.
Teaching:
She currently teaches undergraduate students at the University of Cambridge, contributing to architectural education while pursuing her doctoral research.
