About
Prof. Fatime Güneş is a distinguished sociologist at Anadolu University's Faculty of Letters, Department of Sociology, where she has served since 1995. Rising through academic ranks from Lecturer to full Professor (2020-present), she also held significant leadership roles including Department Head (2021-2024) and Ethics Committee Member. Her career spans extensive research in gender studies, poverty dynamics, and urban sociology, supported by multiple TUBITAK and EU-funded projects.
Her research interests focus on gender sociology, poverty studies, and seasonal agricultural labor, with methodological expertise in visual sociology and ethnographic fieldwork. Publications reveal consistent engagement with feminist theory and critical poverty analysis, particularly examining women's labor experiences and urban marginalization in Turkish contexts. Her 2013 SSCI-indexed article in the Journal of Social Policy demonstrates international scholarly recognition.
Professor Güneş actively supervises graduate research, with two documented thesis advisements on violence against women and regional poverty patterns. Her funded projects demonstrate practical application of research to social policy, including development of social assistance beneficiary scoring systems and analysis of seasonal agricultural worker households.
