Fatima Abacha

Fatima Abacha is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maiduguri since July 2020. She holds a PhD in Computer Science, an MSc from the University of Leeds (2019), and a BEng from the University of Maiduguri (2015).

Her research focuses on Systems and Software Security, with emphasis on Federated Learning, addressing challenges like Data Heterogeneity and Non-IID Data through Synthetic Data solutions. She collaborates internationally on topics including Data Sharing and Data Distribution optimization.

Recent work includes two 2024 publications exploring Foundation Models in Federated Learning contexts, advancing techniques for non-IID data environments. These contributions aim to enhance privacy-preserving machine learning frameworks aligned with UN SDGs for education and innovation.
