Assoc. Prof. Fatih Erbay is a scholar of Turkic linguistics and historical texts affiliated with the Department of Old Turkish Language at Iğdır University. He holds a PhD from Selçuk University's Institute of Social Sciences (2003-2008), an MA in Turkish Language (2000-2003), and a BA in Turkish Language and Literature from Trakya University (1995-1999). His research focuses on Chagatai Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, and historical Turkic dialectology, with particular emphasis on manuscript analysis, lexicography, and cultural transmission.
Dr. Erbay has held administrative roles including Head of Department at Iğdır University and Selçuk University, and served as Bologna Coordinator and Erasmus Coordinator. He teaches advanced courses on Chagatai Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, and Turkological resources. His 20+ peer-reviewed articles examine topics ranging from Nasreddin Hoca folklore to missionary texts in East Turkistan, demonstrating expertise in both textual analysis and historical contextualization.
His authored works include a critical edition of Emânî's Divan and studies on Eastern Turkic Kalila wa-Dimna translations. Research projects include analysis of W. Radloff's Turkic dialect dictionary. He advises graduate students on historical Turkic texts, with one completed master's thesis on Abdulkadir Talebani's poetry.
