Fateme Zare

Dr. Fateme Zare is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Water Futures and the Fenner School of Environment & Society at Australian National University (ANU). Her expertise lies in complex systems modeling, particularly in water resources and integrated assessment. She employs computational and participatory methods to address socio-ecological challenges and develops methodologies for sustainable decision-making under uncertainty.

Dr. Zare holds a PhD from ANU’s Fenner School, where her doctoral research focused on improving integrated assessment and modelling processes in water sectors. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) with extensive teaching experience in systems thinking, evidence-based problem-solving, and stakeholder management.

Her research interests include Decision-Making Under Deep Uncertainty, Multi-Sector Dynamics, and System Dynamics. Notable contributions include frameworks for evaluating environmental modelling effectiveness and co-production approaches for resilient decision-making. She has collaborated widely with government, industry, and community groups, emphasizing interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.

Dr. Zare’s work spans academic publications, international conference presentations, and consulting roles. She actively seeks collaborations to bridge academic research with real-world applications in water resources and sustainability.
