Fangzhou You

Fangzhou You is a Lecturer in Digital Design at the University of York's Department of Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media, part of the School of Arts and Creative Technologies. He holds a PhD in Design from Loughborough University (2022) and has conducted postdoctoral research at Imperial College London's Dyson School of Design Engineering.

His research focuses on responsible design practices emphasizing sustainability, wellbeing, and inclusion. Notable projects include developing behavioral interventions to reduce airline food waste through collaborations with Chinese airlines, co-creating a Design for Digital Wellbeing Toolkit with a multinational tech company, and investigating psychological scarcity's impact on health decisions in rural China.

You has secured significant grants including £3,000 AHRC SEED funding (2023) and a £9,000 Ministry of Education of China grant (2021). His work has been recognized through awards like the Loughborough University Open Research Collective Grant (2022).

Current research explores sustainable eating experiences and transient community behavior change. He serves on the editorial board of Advanced Design Research, reviews for CHI conferences, and collaborates internationally in food design studies and urban planning.

Education includes dual Master's degrees from Politecnico di Torino (Systemic Design) and Tongji University (Interaction Design), alongside a BSc/BA in Psychology and Product Design from East China Normal University.
