About
Fabrizio Fabris is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. His research spans organic chemistry with applications in pharmaceuticals, biomedicine, environmental science, and materials chemistry. He is actively engaged in multiple national and industry-funded research projects.
His research interests include organic synthesis, particularly stereocontrolled synthesis of benzocyclotrimers and strained aromatic molecules, with applications in supramolecular systems, drug delivery, and catalysis. He also explores organic compounds for biomedical therapy, including glucosyl sterol conjugates for neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and ALS, and develops novel climatic proxies for paleo-oceanographic studies. Additional work focuses on innovative materials for cultural heritage restoration.
Fabris leads and participates in significant research initiatives such as the ALLIANCE project on cyclic peptide-based nucleic acid therapeutics delivery funded by the National Center for Gene Therapy under the PNRR, and multiple industry collaborations with Galentis s.r.l. on steroid fluorination and pharmaceutical synthesis optimization. His work integrates both fundamental and applied research across chemistry and interdisciplinary domains.
He holds leadership roles in laboratory safety and research-teaching activities, serving as Preposto di Laboratorio and Responsabile dell’Attività di Didattica e Ricerca in Laboratorio (RDRL). He collaborates with researchers including Alessandro Scarso, Giuseppe Borsato, Dario Battistel, and others across multidisciplinary teams.
His research is supported by funding from MIUR (PRIN), Galentis s.r.l., and the Italian Ministry of University and Research through the PNRR initiative. Projects span from 2007 to ongoing work in 2024, reflecting sustained research activity and external recognition.
Fabris operates from the scientific campus on Via Torino, with office space in Building Alfa (Room 611) and a research lab in Building Beta (3rd floor, Lab 5). He is proficient in English (advanced written and spoken).
