Fabricio Fortese

Fabricio Fortese is a Stockholm Research Fellow at the Institute of European and Comparative Law, Stockholm University, and holds academic appointments in the Department of Law. He serves as Director of Mooting Activities and is affiliated with Christ Church. His roles include membership on the board of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Education and Training Committee of Africa in the Moot. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a former board member of the Nordic-Baltic Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club. Additionally, he holds the WilmerHale Scholar-in-Residence title in London and is an Academic Tutor for the Ciarb Global Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration.

Fortese’s research focuses on legal interpretation, harmonization of international arbitration laws, and judicial review of arbitral decisions under frameworks like the UNCITRAL Model Arbitration Law and the English Arbitration Act. His work addresses jurisdictional disputes and the role of national courts in post-arbitral proceedings. He has practical expertise in cross-border dispute resolution, trade finance, and insolvency-related cases.

Key awards include his FCIArb designation and the WilmerHale Scholar-in-Residence honor. He has contributed to USAID and CLDP projects on international commercial dispute resolution. His academic background includes an LLB from Buenos Aires University, an LLM in International and Comparative Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London, and an LLM and PhD from Stockholm University.

Fortese’s professional engagements span visiting fellowships at Columbia Law and the National University of Singapore, alongside active participation in global arbitration moots and educational initiatives. His publications, including books on arbitration jurisdiction and Argentine arbitration practices, reflect his deep engagement with comparative legal systems and international commercial law.
