About
Fabio Ruetz is a Researcher at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) within the QUT Centre for Robotics. He is currently pursuing his PhD in autonomous navigation in unstructured environments, collaborating with CSIRO. Prior to this, he worked as a Research Engineer at the Autonomous Systems Lab (ASL) at ETH Zurich.
- Education:
- M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, ETH Zurich (2018)
Research Interests focus on enabling robots to navigate densely vegetated environments (e.g., forests, agricultural settings) through multi-modal perception, mapping, navigation, and planning. His work at ASL involved cutting-edge development for autonomous drones in the DARPA Subterranean Challenge and the MBZIRC Challenge in Abu Dhabi.
Publications include his Master Thesis OVPC Mesh: 3D Free-space Representation for Local Ground Vehicle Navigation, which introduced a novel 3D mesh approach for autonomous navigation.
