Fabien Maldonado is a Professor of Medicine, Thoracic Surgery, and Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, where he joined in July 2015. He is affiliated with the Vanderbilt Interventional Pulmonary Research (VIPR) Lab and collaborates with the Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering.

He is funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) and serves on leadership committees for the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, American College of Chest Physicians, and American Thoracic Society. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Philosophy, Science, and Religion at the University of Edinburgh, UK.
