Ewa Bednarczyk

Ewa Bednarczyk is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Machine Design and Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. Her research focuses on mathematical modeling of pathological tissue changes, in vitro experiments on mechanically stimulated cell cultures, and development of novel materials/structures for tissue engineering applications. She has completed a scientific traineeship at the Joint Research Centre in Italy.

Research Interests: Interdisciplinary work at the intersection of biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering, with emphasis on:

• Pathological tissue modeling (osteoarthritis, angiogenesis, osteophytes)
• 3D printing for biomedical applications
• Finite element analysis of microstructure and cartilage roughness
• Development of biocompatible films/starch-based materials
